Are you groping on air?
Are you gathering moss?
You were tapping your knees,
I was weakening first
and we read up on eaves,
balanced soil between thumbs.
You were travelling on
as our wheels left the ground.
We sing through empty bottles,
plant our names in sandy rows
or better still on moving bubbles
that's all these boys need to know.
Unset, a saddle
carving names into the ice.
We work round and into bottles,
that's all.
